Thoracentesis

ACME Providers perform a procedure called Thoracentesis to provide relief and comfort to patients by draining fluid from around the lung. Thoracentesis involves using a needle to place a thin, hollow plastic tube between the ribs and into the chest to extract the fluid for testing. This outpatient procedure is performed at the hospital and typically lasts 30 minutes.
