Bronchoscopy

Bronchoscopy is a minimally invasive, diagnostic procedure to inspect the inside of the lungs. It allows the physician to see any abnormalities that may exist, like masses, mucus plugging, bleeding, and more. The procedure involves one of our physicians examining your airway through a thin viewing instrument called a bronchoscope. A bronchoscopy may also be used for treatment purposes and biopsies. If a foreign object or sputum excess is detected, they can be removed by the bronchoscope.

Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) is an effective and less invasive method of assessing a patient's lymph nodes to detect lung cancer, infections, or other diseases. An alternative to surgery, EBUS is an outpatient procedure that utilizes an ultrasound-guided endoscope or bronchoscope that is inserted through the mouth into the trachea. Our doctors have real-time imaging of the surface of the airways, blood vessels, lungs, and lymph nodes, and the capability to extract samples. EBUS is frequently conducted in tandem with imaging diagnosis procedures and are highly accurate.
